Season 53 - RTR TallyChallenge Series Incident Reports

Post by JoshM »

Race 1- 5/6/21

Lap 4- #98 into #2; #98 served his penalty.

Lap 16- #10 blows a motor which causes a wreck. No penalties charged as this was a mechanical failure.

Lap 21- #26 moves down into #43 and causes a wreck; #26 served his penalty.

Lap 39- #80 slowly moves to the left and starts to slow down on the straightaway, and is immediately bumper-hooked by #616. Incident on #80 who served his penalty.

Lap 60- #43 is in the middle lane and hits #24 on pit lane. While cars came in 2 and 3 wide, the far right lane was open at the time and this incident could have been avoided if he was in the far right lane. Because of this, incident is on #43. He did not serve a drive-through so the penalty is 1 lap and a DNQ for the next race.

Lap 61- #56 attempts to turn into his pit stall but #055 is in the middle lane. Because they were side-by-side, #055 could not get into the right-hand lane unless one of the drivers slowed down. Because of this, I can't put blame on either driver. No incident charged.

Race 3- 5/20/21

Lap 3- #98 gives a bad bump to #08; #98 served his penalty.

Lap 11- #6 slides up into #8 and causes a wreck; #6 served his penalty.

Lap 27- #006 bumper-hooks himself off of #7; #006 served his penalty. While serving his penalty, he led his one and only lap of the race, so that bonus point was removed per RTG rules.

Lap 34- #2 gives a bad bump to #38; #2 served his penalty.

Lap 37- #17 has some kind of problem on the restart and doesn't get up to speed and gets hit from behind, causing a wreck. Incident on #17 who did not serve a penalty. Failure to serve is a 1 lap penalty and DNQ for the next race.

Lap 66- #2 runs out of gas on the last lap and gets hit in the tri-oval. Incident on #2 as he was off-speed and still in the racing groove. Penalty is EOLL.

Race 4- 5/27/21

Lap 7- #038 bumps #8 in turn four and then spins after a bumper-hook. The cars behind check-up and it causes an incident. Incident charged to #038 who served his penalty.

Lap 30- #006 spins while coming to pit road and brought out the yellow; #006 served his penalty.

Lap 39- An accordion check-up happens at the front of the pack entering turn 1 and the check-ups eventually cause a crash. Everyone made a good effort to avoid a wreck. Calling this a "racin' deal".

Lap 43- Under yellow on the front stretch, one car spins to avoid a check-up, and another car gets hit and spun from the same check-up. This is totally ridiculous. If driver's can't keep pace any better under a yellow flag, we will start giving out 'careless driving' penalties. Drivers at the front need to keep a constant speed around 70 mph, and drivers mid-and-back of the pack need to stop speeding up and slowing down excessively. Instead, just slowly catch up to the cars ahead. This gas-brake-gas stuff causes havoc and sometimes it causes wrecks.

Lap 48- #23 gives #54 a bump that moves him out of line a little bit and then has to check-up. The check-up causes cars behind to stack up and wreck as they enter turn three. Incident on #23. He did not serve the penalty so he is docked 1 lap and a DNQ for his next race.

Lap 54- #77 moves down and gets into #003 in the tri-oval; #77 served his penalty. ALSO, #055 is charged with a secondary incident for failure to properly slow for a wreck and hitting another driver. He did not serve the penalty so he is docked 1 lap and a DNQ for his next race.

Lap 55- Exiting his pit stall, #90 moves up into oncoming traffic, bumping two cars out of pit road and causing them to receive black flags. This is considered an incident. #90 did not serve the penalty so he is docked 1 lap and a DNQ for his next race.

Lap 61- #31 gets into #17. While the incident is on #31, he had a small window to work with. This is what happens when we don't give more room to the lanes of traffic.

Lap 66- #17 tries to squeeze between two cars and wrecks #90. While the yellow did not come out, this is still considered an incident. He is scored EOLL and will be on a 1-and-park for the next race.

The points were updated Tuesday night at 8pm EST.

Race 5- 6/3/21

Lap 10- #60 blows a motor and it causes an incident. No incident charged as this was a random mechanical failure not caused by the driver.

Lap 22- #9 runs out of fuel, gets bumped, and it results in a wreck. Incident on #9 who retired.

Lap 44- #8 bumps and spins #77 entering the pits during green flag pit stops; #8 served his penalty the next lap.

Lap 64- #28 gets into #038 as the cars ahead of both of them were pitting. Multiple drivers ahead posted they were pitting and the checkup was a big one, so I have to call this on #28 who served his penalty. Because this incident caused the race to finish under yellow, #28 will be on a 1-and-park for his next race, per RTG rules.

Race 6- 6/10/21

Lap 18- We had TWO collisions entering the pits under green. FIRST, #6 got into #143 approaching pit road; luckily for #006, #143 did a complete spin and got his car going without losing ground. Because of this, no incident is charged. NEXT, #712 and #17 get together as they get on pit road. I am not charging an incident for this as #712 was below 55 mph and his car was halfway in the first pit stall when the contact occurred, so he was giving enough room to try to avoid contact. Again, no incidents charged in either wreck on this lap.

Lap 38- #6 gets into #020 and #08 entering the pits; #6 served his penalty.

Lap 47- #006 and #54 make contact at the exit of turn four and it cause an accident. I am calling this a "racin' deal" as they were 4-wide at the time, and despite #54 hitting the wall, the contact between him and #006 was made up against the wall, so the wreck was NOT caused from hitting the wall and bouncing into oncoming traffic.

Lap 56- While on pit road, #77 (in the middle lane with cars to his right-side already) moves his car to the right to avoid a car in front of him slowing to get into his pit stall. As #77 moves to the right, he makes contact with #43. If the contact was made in the far-right lane, no incident would have been charged, but because #43 had his in both lanes, I have to call this on #43. The penalty wasn't served so he is docked 1 lap and a DNQ the next race.

Lap 59- #28 and #8 make contact exiting turn four. #8 moved down slightly and contact was made. #8 served his penalty.

Lap 59- Racing back to the yellow flag, #77 hits #38. This WOULD have been an incident if #38 lost spots or suffered any damage. But because only #77 received damage, this is a no-call.

Lap 59- The caution was a complete mess again because drivers aren't paying attention. The leaders don't fall behind the pace car until almost a lap later and drivers that were a lap down passed the field TWICE. This is not complicated stuff. Drivers need to start using common sense.

Lap 61- #60 loses control of his car under caution and wrecks another driver. He did not serve a penalty so he is docked 1 lap and a DNQ for the next race.

Lap 64- #77 bumps #43 going into turn three. The contact makes #43 loose and he slides up into #88 causing a wreck. Incident on #77. He is scored EOLL and will be on a 1-and-park the next race.
