TallyChase points for Season 57

Post by JoshM »

The TallyChase points have been updated. Below is an explanation:

Drivers can make the playoffs by doing either of the following:
1) Finish in the top 10 in points at the conclusion of the regular season, OR
2) Finish in the top 20 in points at the conclusion of the regular season AND win a race.

The playoffs will be 5 weeks with 2 cut-off races and a championship race. After the second playoff race, we will cut the field down to 8 drivers. After the fourth playoff race, we will cut the field down to 4 drivers. In the 5th race/final race, the highest finisher of those 4 drivers wins the championship.

Any playoff driver that wins a playoff race will advance to the next round. When the cut-off races take place, we will advance the drivers who won a race in that round of the playoffs first, and then go by points after that. So for example, if a playoff driver wins playoff race #1 and then has a bad race #2 and finishes 9th or worse points, he will STILL move to the next round of the playoffs, replacing the last driver that would have made it on points.

Regarding bonus points, the regular season points champion will receive 3 bonus points in the first round and 2 bonus points in the second round. Also, each win will give a driver 3 bonus points in the first round and 2 bonus points in the second round. Bonus points for wins in the playoffs are available as well in round 1. Any driver winning in the second round of the playoffs advances to the championship race.

Bonus points are also given for points standings. In the first round of the playoffs, there will be 3 bonus points per regular season points position.
Excluding the bonus points, the regular season champion would have 30 points, the next driver would have 27 points, and so on.

FOR SEASON 57, we had 11 drivers make the Chase. The regular season points are below:
Points Position | Driver | Points Behind
1 Chuck McClure -0
2 Brian Schilling -18
3 Tim Noftsker -28
4 Rodney Sullins -33
5 Joe DiSpirito -34
6 Jeremy Jeffries -38
7 Bob Seminara -41
8 Grant Wessley -45
9 Josh Metallic -56
10 Jessica Shelton -57
12 Marc Paglia -90

And after bonus points, here is how they will start the playoffs:
Chuck McClure 39 (30 for first in points, 3 points for regular season points championship, 6 points for two wins)
Brian Schilling 30 (27 for second in points; 3 points for one win)
Tim Noftsker 27 (24 for third in points; 3 points for one win)
Rodney Sullins 21 (21 for fourth in points)
Joe Dispirito 21 (18 for fifth in points; 3 points for one win)
Jeremy Jeffries 18 (15 for sixth in points; 3 points for one win)
Bob Seminara 12 (12 for seventh in points)
Grant Wessley 12 (9 for eighth in points; 3 points for one win)
Josh Metallic 6 (6 for ninth in points)
Jessica Shelton 3 (3 for tenth in points)
Marc Paglia 3 (3 points for one win)

When we get to the second round of the playoffs, we will again reset the points, giving 2 points per points positions and 2 points per win. The regular season champion will also have 2 bonus points for this round.

8 Brian Schilling -31
9 Josh Metallic -34 ELIMINATED
10 Marc Paglia -39 ELIMINATED
11 Jessica Shelton -45 ELIMINATED

And after bonus points, here is how they will start the second round of the playoffs:
