Tally Playoff points Season 59

Post by Wylye »

The TallyChase points have been updated. Below is an explanation:

Drivers can make the playoffs by doing either of the following:
1) Finish in the top 12 in points at the conclusion of the regular season, OR
2) Finish in the top 20 in points at the conclusion of the regular season AND win a race.

The playoffs will be 6 races. After two races, the field is cut down to 8 drivers. After four races, the field is cut down to 4 drivers. The last two races will be the championship round; the driver with the most points is the champion. If there is a tie, it will go to tiebreakers.

Any playoff driver that wins a playoff race will advance to the next round. When the cut-off races take place, we will advance the drivers who won a race in that round of the playoffs first, and then go by points after that. So for example, if a playoff driver wins playoff race #1 and then has a bad race #2 and finishes 9th or worse points, he will STILL move to the next round of the playoffs, replacing the last driver that would have made it on points.

Regarding bonus points, the regular season points champion will receive 3 bonus points in the first round and 2 bonus points in the second round. Also, each win will give a driver 3 bonus points in the first round and 2 bonus points in the second round. Bonus points for wins in the playoffs are available as well in round 1. Any driver winning in the second round of the playoffs advances to the championship round.

Bonus points are also given for top 10 in the points standings. In the first round of the playoffs, there will be 3 bonus points per regular season points position.
Excluding the bonus points, the regular season champion would have 30 points, the next driver would have 27 points, and so on.

FOR SEASON 59, we had 14 drivers make the Chase. The regular season points are below:
Points Position | Driver | Points Behind
1 Brian Schilling --
2 Jeremy Jeffries -11 (3 wins)
3 Bob Seminara - 49
4 JT Mayhew - 49
5 Grant Wesley- 49 (1 win)
6 Bernie Mobbs - 54
7 Donnie Garrett - 64
8 Rodney Sullins - 76
9 Terry Bombard - 81
10 Josh Metallic - 84
11 Tim Noftsker -84
12 Greg Palmer - 90
13 Chuck McClure - 92 (1 win)
14 Kelly Causey - 107 (2 wins)

And after bonus points, here is how they will start the playoffs:
Brian Schilling 33 (30 for first in points, 3 points for regular season points championship)
Jeremy Jeffries 30 (27 for second in points; 9 points for three win)
Bob Seminara 24 (24 tied for third in points)
JT Mayhew 24 (24 tied for third in points)
Grant Wesley 24 (24 tied third in points; 3 points for one win)
Bernie Mobbs 18 (18 for sixth in points)
Donnie Garrett 15 (15 for seventh in points)
Rodney Sullins 12 (12 for eighth in points)
Terry Bombard 6 (9 for ninth in points)
Josh Metallic 6 (6 tied for tenth in points)
Tim Noftsker 9 (6 tied for tenth in points, 3 points for 1 win)
Greg Palmer 3 (3 for eleventh in points)
Chuck McClure 3 (0 for twelfth in points; 3 points for one win)
Kelly Causey 6 (0 for thirteenth in points; 6 points for two wins)

When we get to the second round of the playoffs, we will again reset the points, giving 2 points per points positions and 2 points per win. The regular season champion will also have 2 bonus points for this round.

The points have been reset for the Championship round of the TallyChase. The following drivers advanced:

Grant Wessley
Brian Schilling
Bob Seminara
Jeremy Jeffries

There are no bonus points to start this round; all drivers will begin with the same amount of points. The champion will be the driver who earns the most points after these final two races. Also, there will only be ONE champion, so in the event of a tie, the champion will be decided per the RTG tie breaker rules:

First tie breaker - total wins
Second tie breaker - total Top 5 finishes
Third tie breaker - total Top 10 finishes
Fourth tie breaker - total 2nd place finishes, 3rd place finishes, etc until tie is broken.
