Correct me if I am wrong but the results may still need to be adjusted? Currently it is showing the #57 in 16th 1 lap down and the #028 in 17th 53 laps down. Then it shows me #45 in 18th 7.05 seconds back and the #7 in 19th 7.73 seconds back. Shouldn't I be moved up 16th and Cyber moved up to 17th because of the penalties to the #57 and #028?

Sorry for the later than usual response Bobby, I had a bit of an accident yesterday and I’m going to be down for a bit. Thank God for voice to text LOL. Now your question, you are correct in what you have noticed, but it actually is correct as posted LOL. Let me try to explain here, and remind me Monday to bring it up in the drivers meeting, I apologize for missing the season opener and forgetting it this week but figured everyone knew by now.

Just so everyone understands, the race results will still be correct as per the rules and points, we just aren’t physically moving all the drivers around like we used to. At our preseason directors meeting, we decided to administer the penalties similar to NASCAR and many other sports, and in doing so alleviate a ton of unnecessary work for our volunteer admins. When a penalty is issued to an individual driver, that driver alone is the subject of the infraction and any corresponding penalty. They don’t award season standing bonuses to random other competitors just based on how they finished in relation to the offending driver in that one event, nor do they change the finishing order unless it is P1, and even then it must be serious and may still remain with an asterisks depending on the rules of that sport. Example;

Ky Busch finishes a race in 3rd place, but is issued a post race penalty for violating the rules, and in this example it’s $25,000, loss of crew chief for two races and loss of 25 driver points. “He” alone loses those points, and by doing so, “everyone else” in the series standings benefits regarding their standings against “him” alone. Example: Before the race Kevin Harvick was 50 points behind Ky Busch, and Harvick finished in second in this race. He is now only 24 points behind Busch (1 more point for this race based on finish, then Busch lost 25 in penalties, so Harvick actually gained 26 points on Busch). What they don’t do is take 25 points from Busch and then give one point to any driver that happened to finish behind him in that race only, that actually changes more when you think about it. Example: The previous examples just happened, but now they also gave every driver from 4th place back one season long point just because this week they were behind Busch but otherwise were not at all involved. So now Denny Hamlin was 2 points behind Martin Truex for the season coming into the race, and Truex finished fourth and Hamlin finished first. Truex now gets another bonus point that Hamlin doesn’t get for a random penalty neither he or Hamlin was involved in, and at the end of the season and he ends up winning the championship by one point.

So, if you follow my way too many words thanks to voice technology lol, we simply are giving the penalties to the drivers that earned them and leaving the standings as they are by number, but their points and laps will reflect the penalties listed in the incident report. Imagine Monday’s race, and all drivers in both the main and challenger standings for the race and season having to be manually moved around all those spots, that is ripe for mistakes and takes hours for the admins, so this is the path of less resistance, and it was never intended in any of those minor rules infractions for some other drivers to gain an additional season point benefit in addition to the benefit all drivers get to the penalized driver. Hope this makes sense but I’ll gladly explain further.
