TallyChase points for Season 52

Post by JoshM »

The TallyChase points have been updated. Below is an explanation on all of it.

Drivers can make the playoffs by doing either of the following:
1) Finish in the top 10 in points at the conclusion of the regular season, OR
2) Finish in the top 20 in points at the conclusion of the regular season AND win a race.

The playoffs will be 5 weeks. After the second playoff race, we will cut the field down to 8 drivers. After the fourth playoff race, we will cut the field down to 4 drivers. In the 5th race/final race, the highest finisher of those 4 drivers wins the championship.

Any playoff driver that wins a playoff race will advance to the next round. When the cut-off races take place, we will advance the drivers who won a race in that round of the playoffs, and then go by points after that. So for example, if a playoff driver wins playoff race #1 and then has a bad race #2 and ends up last in points, he will STILL move to the next round of the playoffs, replacing the driver who finished 8th in points.

Regarding bonus points, the regular season champion will receive 3 bonus points in the first round and 2 bonus points in the second round. Also, each regular season win will give a driver 3 bonus points in the first round and 2 bonus points in the second round. Bonus points for wins in the playoffs are available as well in round 1. Any driver winning in the second round of the playoffs advances to the championship race.

In addition to points for wins, bonus points are available for points position. In the first round of the playoffs, there will be 3 bonus points per regular season points position. NOT including any bonus points, the regular season champion would have 30 points, the regular season runner-up would have 27 points, and so on.

FOR SEASON 52, we had 13 drivers make the Chase. The regular season points are below:
Driver Points Behind
1 Joe DiSpirito --
2 Bob Seminara -20
3 Jeremy Jeffries -36
4 Grant Wessley -43
5 Donnie Garrett -49
6 Chuck McClure -64
7 J Crivello -65
8 Bernie Mobbs -76
9 Chris Emry -77
10 Hank Middleton -79
11 Dante Ricci made playoffs by winning a race
12 Josh Metallic made playoffs by winning a race
13 Billy Ellisor made playoffs by winning a race

And after bonus points, here is how they will start the playoffs:
Joe DiSpirito 39 (30 for first in points PLUS 3 points for regular season points championship & 6 points for TWO wins)
Bob Seminara 30 (27 for second in points PLUS 3 points for ONE win)
Jeremy Jeffries 27 (24 for third in points PLUS 3 points for ONE win)
Grant Wessley 21 (21 for fourth in points; no wins)
Donnie Garrett 18 (18 for fifth in points; no wins)
Chuck McClure 18 (15 for sixth in points PLUS 3 points for ONE win)
J Crivello 12 (12 for seventh in points; no wins)
Bernie Mobbs 9 (9 for eighth in points; no wins)
Chris Emry 6 (6 for ninth in points; no wins)
Hank Middleton 3 (3 for tenth in points; no wins)
Dante Ricci 6 (0 points for finishing outside top ten; 6 points for TWO wins)
Josh Metallic 3 (0 points for finishing outside top ten; 3 points for ONE win)
Billy Ellisor 3 (0 points for finishing outside top ten; 3 points for ONE win)

When we get to the second round of the playoffs, we will again reset the points, giving 2 points per points positions and 2 points per win. The regular season champion will also have 2 bonus points for this round.
