TallyChallenge Playoffs - points for Season 61
Posted: March 6th, 2024, 2:20 pm
The TallyChase points have been updated. Below is an explanation:
Drivers can make the playoffs by doing either of the following:
1) Finish in the top 12 in points at the conclusion of the regular season, OR
2) Finish in the top 20 in points at the conclusion of the regular season AND win a race.
The playoffs will be 6 races. After two races, the field is cut down to 8 drivers. After four races, the field is cut down to 4 drivers. The last two races will be the championship round; the driver with the most points is the champion. If there is a tie, it will go to tiebreakers.
Any playoff driver that wins a playoff race will advance to the next round. When the cut-off races take place, we will advance the drivers who won a race in that round of the playoffs first, and then go by points after that. So for example, if a playoff driver wins playoff race #1 and then has a bad race #2 and finishes 9th or worse points, he will STILL move to the next round of the playoffs, replacing the last driver that would have made it on points.
Regarding bonus points, the regular season points champion will receive 3 bonus points in the first round and 2 bonus points in the second round. Also, each win will give a driver 3 bonus points in the first round and 2 bonus points in the second round. Bonus points for wins in the playoffs are available as well in round 1. Any driver winning in the second round of the playoffs automatically advances to the championship round.
Bonus points are also given for top 10 in the points standings. In the first round of the playoffs, there will be 3 bonus points per regular season points position.
Excluding the bonus points, the regular season champion would have 30 points, the next driver would have 27 points, and so on.
