Season 9 Incident Reports

Post by KickinAsphalt »

JoshM wrote: January 10th, 2014, 8:59 pm Race 1- 1/9/14

Lap 19- #28 self spin. #28 did not go EOLL so he is issued a lap 1 penalty.

Lap 37- #5 into #088; #5 parked.

Lap 50- #13 into #088; #13 served his penalty.

Lap 55- #72 into #37; #72 served his penalty.

Lap 61- #28 bumps and spins #78. The caution did not come out, but this is still considered an incident. This was #28's second caution but he did not park. His scoring is stopped on this lap.

Lap 63- #13 moves up and #28 moves down, making contact with each other. Because both drivers were responsible for the contact, the incident is applied to both drivers. This was #13's second incident and the third incident for #28. #13's scoring is stopped on this lap.

Penalties:
#28 is parked next week and will be on a 1-and-park for his next race.
#13 is on a 1-and-park-it for his next race.

Rule Update:
I am in the process of finishing up a full list of rules for MSR. They will be very similar to RTR, but there are some differences. It will be posted prior to next weeks race. Be sure to read it before entering the server.

Max Caution Rule:
I am bringing back the Max Caution Rule. Starting with Race #2, I will be keeping a list of the number of cautions each driver causes. Once a driver gets his 7th caution, that driver will no longer be eligible to qualify and will be on a 1-and-park for the remainder of that season.

Thanks to all who showed up to make it a large turnout!

Top 3 finishers (plus 1-and-parks) in last race cannot qualify for next race. These drivers are:
1. Sean Prime
2. Dave Earlywine
3. Stan Skelton

Lap 6- #01 bumps a car in the turn and slows to avoid a wreck. The secondary checkup then causes an incident. #01 is charged w/ incident & serves EOLL.
As the caution is occurring, #25 bumps #5 and sends him into the wall. This is NOT an incident as #25 was in the wrong place at the wrong time and had nowhere to go.
After that, #25 clips #1 and sends him into the wall. This would have been viewed as part of the initial wreck, but the replay shows #25 did not slow down until after the contact w/ #1. This is considered driving thru the wreck and is an incident.
Also during the incident, #83 gets into #36. The cars in front of #83 slowed enough to miss the wreck. After reviewing the incident from several different views/cars, I am also charging #83 w/ driving thru a wreck.

Lap 20- #01 into #99. This was #01's second incident so he parked. As #99 is still spinning on track, he is hit by #1 and #83. This is also considered driving thru a wreck and is an incident for both drivers. Because this is #83's second incident, his scoring is stopped on this lap. He is also parked for 1 race and on a 1-and-park-it for his next race.

Lap 26- #13 into #88. #13 parked as he was on a 1-and-park it from the previous race.

Lap 27- #09 warps into the car of #30 and blow's #30's motor. Warping to cause a wreck is considered an incident. #09 parked.

Lap 33- #16 warps into #102 and #015 causing an incident. #16 went EOLL.

Lap 53- #34 blows a motor. No incident charged.

Lap 58- #162 cuts down on #16. #162 parked.

Lap 64- #330(66) cuts down on #21(69). The contact sent #21 heading for the grass infield so he made a sharp right to turn avoid it, sending him back onto the track. #330 is charged w/ the incident and parked.
Immediately after the wreck, a second wreck occurs when #9 gets into #80 racing back. #9 is moved EOLL of the lead lap cars but ahead of #330.
I reviewed the contact between #33 and the spinning #9. While #33 did make contact, he was almost 40mph slowed from race speed and simply chose the wrong place to go in trying to miss #9. It was very close, but I cannot call this racing thru a wreck.

Remember driving thru a wreck is considered and incident, and therefore, requires and EOLL penalty. I did not go over the penalties for this, so I take responsibility for any confusion. The incidents will be counted but no driver will be further penalized for lining up incorrectly. I will review our rules and see if I missed anything and I will update drivers of any additions, retractions, or changes in the forums and the next drivers meeting.

Don't forget next week's race is the last chance to race your way into the TallyChallenge Bracket Series. After next week's race, the top 12 in points are locked into the double-elimination bracket. Drivers in points 13-28 will be put into 4 groups of 4 drivers with the highest finisher from each group moving on to the double-elimination bracket to make it a 16 car bracket.

Lap 33- #088 into #78; #088 EOLL.

Lap 45- #28 into #01, causing #01 to hit the inside wall and lose the draft. Per the rules, causing an incident where the yellow comes out is still considered an incident, and the penalty for this is a drive-thru penalty the following lap. #28 did not do a drive thru and is docked 1 lap in the final standings.

Lap 55- #088 into #1(83) while entering the pits but did not park. Per the rules, any driver that causes 2 incidents and does not park will be parked for 1 race and on a 1-and-park-it for the next race. #088's scoring is also stopped on this lap.

Lap 56- #72 into #102 while entering the pits. After review, #102 started slowing down before leaving the racing surface, so the incident, per the rules, is charged to #102. #102 did EOLL.

Lap 61- #5 into #10; #5 parked himself.

Penalties:
#088 is parked for 1 race and on a 1-and-park for the race after that.

Caution Count: (after 7, drivers are on a 1-and-park and cannot qual for the rest of the season)

Also, below is a link to the Bracket Series line-up. The top 12 in points are locked in to the double-elimination bracket. Drivers in points 13-28 will be put in groups of 4 for a play-in race. The top finisher from each group will move on to the main double-elimination bracket; the others are eliminated from the Bracket Series. PLEASE read the Bracket Series rules. If anyone in points 13-28 does not show up for the play-in race on 2/27, I will move the next guy in points into the bracket, so this bracket could change before the start of the race.

Lap 6- #35 warps into #90. #35 did not go EOLL but parked shortly afterwards, so issuing a penalty would have no effect on his finishing position.

Lap 23- #4 into #34; #4 EOLL.

Lap 29- #66 gets into the wall and is then bumped by #4, but the incident was caused by #33 moving up a lane and #044 trying to squeeze between #33 and #66. Because it was the actions of both drivers contributing to the wreck, I have to call this on both #33 and #044. #044 did EOLL but #33 did not and is docked 1 lap in the final standings.

Lap 43- #015 into #08; #015 parked.

Lap 59- #39 into #33; #39 EOLL.

Lap 65- #6 gives a bad bump to #083 and starts an incident; #6 parked.

Penalties:
#088 is on a 1-and-park for the race.

Caution Count: (after 7, drivers are on a 1-and-park and cannot qual for the rest of the season)

Lap 16- #01 into #80; #01 EOLL.

Lap 52- #28 into #162; #28 parked.

Lap 57- #42 into #9; #42 EOLL.

Lap 66- #5 into #4. Per the rules, causing an incident on the last lap is a 1 lap penalty in the final standings.

There were 2 incidents caused by drivers slowing down too early after the cautions came out. I am not charging the drivers who hit the slower cars because they should have kept their speed up.
If a yellow comes out, keep up your speed and gradually slow your pace after crossing the S/F line. If you have nobody near you, slow whenever you want, but if you are in a pack, please keep pace or tell the driver(s) behind you you are starting to slow. Obviously if the wreck is in front of you and you are trying to avoid it, you can slow and do what you need to in order to miss it.

Lap 4- #11 into #80; #11 EOLL.

Lap 20- #10 into #33; #10 EOLL.

Lap 39- #95 into #710; #95 parked.

Lap 56- #11 into #39; this was #11's second incident so he parked.

Lap 65- contact between #13 and #99 causes an incident. Incident was very tough to call and I asked the Replay Review Committee to review it. They put the incident on #710. The #710 parked after getting damaged in the second wreck on the same lap which was not his fault.

Lap 65- #90 touches the apron and drifts up into #710. Per the rules, #90 is given a 1 lap penalty.

Lap 27- #044 into #003; #044 EOLL.

Lap 37- #003 and #33 get together. This was a very tough call. #003 fit his car into a tight spot w/ #33 to his outside. #003 didn't appear to drift up, but #33 drifted down just a few inches at the most, but the space was so tight, that was all it took. I have to call this on #33. #33 did not go EOLL but did park after his next incident, so no further penalty is required.

Lap 44- #33 into #25; #33 parked.

Lap 66- #39 bumps #015 to start an incident. This was another tough call. #015 went to make a move for the lead but ran out of space. #39 tried to let off to avoid an off-center bump to #015. #39 did not let off enough and bumped #015 into #42, starting the wreck. #39 could have swept under #015 to have avoided the incident, but because he let off and tried to fall in line instead (thus starting the incident), he is issued the penalty. Even if it would have been called a "racin' deal", the penalty is still the same. #39 is docked 1 lap.

Penalties:
#33 is on a 1-and-park it for his next race.

Caution Count: (after 7, drivers are on a 1-and-park and cannot qual for the rest of the season)

Top 3 finishers in last race (plus 1-and-parks) cannot qualify for next race. These drivers are:
1. Chris Robbins
2. Seth DeMerchant
3. David Canon
Wyle Cote

Despite an rough middle part of the race, this was a much better race. I do want to apologize for the last lap crash. It was setting up to be a FANTASTIC finish. I tried to keep the line going, but caused alot of drivers good finishes. Disappointing to see a great race finish that way.

And we still need to work on showing more respect on the track. I'm all for hard racing, but when reviewing the replay, I saw several moves where people were rooting other drivers out of the way. Bumpers are meant for bumping, not shoving people out of your way. But again, much better race overall and loved the hard racing at the end.

AND CONGRATS TO CHRIS ROBBINS ON HIS FIRST MSR TALLYCHALLENGE WIN!

Below are the updated brackets for the TallyChallenge Bracket Series. From this point on, only the winner of every group moves on:
